Song: Slow Fade

Edited to add:
After I posted these lyrics, I was invited to participate in the "Then Sings My Soul" meme. I think I'm going to like this one! Also, I wrote this post before I saw Fireproof. I have more insight here.

Do you ever hear a song on the radio that just grips you? I keep hearing this one on KLOVE. It kind of reminds me of the sermon illustration: How to boil a frog.

If you want to boil a frog you start out with a pot of luke warm water. Too cold or too cold and the frog will jump out. You slowly add heat. As the water warms up, the frog relaxes. By the time the water gets too hot for the frog to handle, his legs are useless because of the heat. The idea is that the Devil doesn't usually tempt us with "big sins". Most of us would not be tempted to just go out and rob a bank. But, we might be tempted to "borrow" something and not return it. Or "forget" to list something on our taxes. Those "little" sins are a slippery slope that can lead to the "big" ones that we thought we would never consider.

And people (especially our little ones) are watching us and following in our footsteps.

Casting Crowns - Slow Fade
From the album The Altar And The Door

Be careful little eyes what you see
It's the second glance that ties your hands as darkness pulls the strings
Be careful little feet where you go
For it's the little feet behind you that are sure to follow

Chorus
It's a slow fade when you give yourself away
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
It's a slow fade, it's a slow fade

Be careful little ears what you hear
When flattery leads to compromise, the end is always near
Be careful little lips what you say
For empty words and promises lead broken hearts astray

Chorus

The journey from your mind to your hands
Is shorter than you're thinking
Be careful if you think you stand
You just might be sinking

It's a slow fade when you give yourself away
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
Daddies never crumble in a day
Families never crumble in a day

Oh be careful little eyes what see
Oh be careful little eyes what you see
For the Father up above is looking down in love
Oh be careful little eyes what you see

That song hits my hear too in a big way. Especially now that I'm more aware of what I do and my shadow/copycat.

Wow! Powerful! Great choice today. I don't want to be that frog. Lord Keep us all aware of those little sins!
