Do you believe in Magic?

Have you heard about the HP Magic contest? HP is giving away a BUNCH of stuff x 50! They selected 50 bloggers (including Living in Theory and Stop, Drop, and Blog) to giveaway a collection of computers, including 1 desktop and 3 laptops! (And a bunch of other stuff). But, the idea is not just to get stuff. It's to share. So they are encouraging people to talk about who they will share with. Here's my story.

If you know me, you know that John and I are marriage mentors for our church and community. If I won the incredible HP prize pack, I would share it with Healthy Marriage of New Mexico which is an organization that works to strengthen marriages.  This is done by giving couples tools to help with communication, conflict management and other common stumbling blocks that can create difficulty in marriages.  Divorce, in addition to the emotional toll on the family, causes great financial stress on a community as well. A large component of the program is to complete an on-line inventory. This gives us (and the couple) and idea of what the couple's strengths and stumbling blocks (weaknesses) are, so we can help them find tools to improve their marriage. One setback we've had is that some of our families don't have computers and/or internet access. We could take a couple of the laptops when we meet with the families so the inventory could be completed.  Healthy  Marriages of New Mexico is a faith based initiative that is currently looking to expand its operations out of Albuquerque and form a greater presence in the southeast corner of New Mexico.  I'd like to give them a head start on setting up an office to help my community.

Check out more stories here. (And wish me luck!)

What a great sounding organization you are considering donating to! I think it is so important for people to have support and tools to keep their marriage strong (next year is my 10 yr anniversary!!) I'm glad I found your blog through the HP contest - take care!

I am having so much fun reading other's stories. In a day when marriages are under lots of stress it is great that you want to invest in helping keep them together!

It is so sad seeing that communication breakdown in relationships. It's nice to know there are organizations out there helping people to get that connection back.

What a tremendous cause to give to. As a freelance writer, I worked for a couple of marriage/relationship centers. I loved learning about the positive results from coaching, workshops, and other marriage tools.

Good luck in your endeavors. You are making a tremendous difference through your work.

Happy holidays!

I love love love that you would be contributing to the healthy marriages of others. As a deliriously happy wife, I wish for more happiness in the marriages around me. The world would be a much simpler place, for sure!

Best of luck to you in the contest!

As a newlywed in my second ( and final) marriage, I think it is cool that you do work to help people work to make their marriage strong in the first place, and not just trying to recover from trauma and pain after the fact. best of luck to you

It's like every entry I come upon makes me say, "yes, that's the one that should get it!" Healthy marriages are so important, in New Mexico and everywhere else. You would definitely put the magic to a great cause if you were to win. Thanks for sharing so generously!

What a great thing you provide.. Marriage really is something that you have to work at and it's so great that you give couple the tools to get through any conflicts that arise.

God Bless!
